The active ingredient in Liquid Electrolysis® is NaOH. What makes it such a brilliant formula is that the sodium hydroxide is suspended in a non-reactive anhydrous liquid called Methyl-Isobutyl-Ketone (a harmless emulsifying solvent). Only after reacting with the high moisture content inside the empty follicle shaft does it become caustic(2).
